There was something so magical about the pastel colors and haunting light along the Rio Grande last evening. I took these photos as my son, our dog and I took an evening stroll. They were all taken in Valencia County, NM, along the river.
Snow at the Ranch
We absolutely had a white Christmas at the ranch this year. It was so quiet and beautiful.
What Knitting Teaches Me (Other Than Knitting)
I took up knitting a few months ago. This is more remarkable than it sounds. To grasp the concept of me knitting, with proper astonishment, you must first understand that I was born with two left feet — for hands. The way some people can’t dance, I have never seemed to be able to draw, stitch [...]
Ranch Life Photos Mid December
Here are some photos I took at the ranch over the weekend. Special thanks to cowgirljesse on Twitter for helping me figure out the slideshow function on WordPress!
Winter weekend at the ranch, in photos
I’m trying to figure out how to get Picasa photo albums to post to WordPress. Because I’m not a techie, it will take me about a year. Until then, please click this link to see more. Thanks!

It’s full of gorgeous handmade objects, from chunky woven woolen mittens to handmade earrings displayed on hooks from rough hewn wooden beams stretching from floor to ceiling. I could spend [...]

Teaching Myself to Sew
One of the many skills my mother learned from her mother is sewing. Naturally, because it is associated with womanly pursuits, and such pursuits having been distasteful symbols to my mom of woman’s oppression, sewing was not handed down to me. This morning, it comes to my attention that my son’s new karate pants, the [...]
